Tackle
Nebraska
1925

William “Link” Lyman was a Hall of Fame tackle out of Nebraska who played just four games for the Yellow Jackets in 1925 before gaining prominence with George Halas’s Chicago Bears. Lyman was a pioneer in the use of shifting positions to disrupt the blocking assignments of offensive linemen. During his 11 years in the NFL, Lyman won four NFL championships and never had a losing season. At the time of his retirement and for many years thereafter, he held the NFL records for games played and playing time logged.
